Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the EducationGuru Android app and its services (the “Service”) collect, why, and the choices you have. The Service is operated by EducationGuru. For any privacy question or complaint, contact support@educationguru.in.

Information we collect

Account information: your email address, your name and your password. The password is stored only as a salted one-way hash; we cannot read it.
Optional profile information that you choose to add: phone number, date of birth, gender, class, board, state, language preference and a profile photo.
Learning activity: lessons you open or complete, study time and streaks, exam attempts, your answers and results.
Content you create: notes, bookmarks, highlights, ratings and feedback, and reports about content errors.
Notifications: the in-app notifications sent to you and your notification preferences.
Security records: when you sign in we keep the time, and the IP address and device information sent with the request, in security and session records.

The app does not contain advertising or third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools. It does not ask for your location, contacts, microphone or SMS. It uses the camera or gallery only if you choose to set a profile photo.

How we use it

To create and secure your account, including emailing you a verification code and password-reset messages.
To provide the learning features: show your progress, grade exams, and show results and weak topics.
To let a parent follow a student's progress, but only after the student approves the link.
To send you notifications you have not turned off, and to respond to support requests and content-error reports.
To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

Who can see your data

You can see your own data in the app. A linked parent can see the linked student's progress after the student approves. Our authorised staff can access data when needed to operate the Service and handle support requests. Verification and reset emails are sent through our own mail server. Your data is stored on our servers, and we do not share it with third parties except where the law requires.

Children and students

The Service is designed for students, who may be under 18. A parent or guardian who wants a child's account or data deleted can contact us at support@educationguru.in from the address registered on the account, or use the steps on the account deletion page.

Your choices and rights

See your data: in the app, Settings → Download my data shows a summary of what is stored for your account.
Correct it: Profile → Edit profile.
Delete your account: in the app, Settings → Delete my account, or follow the account deletion page.
Notifications: Settings → Notification preferences.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is erased as described on the deletion page. Exam results and progress that remain afterwards no longer identify you. Security audit records are kept for as long as needed to protect the Service and meet legal obligations.

Security

All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Passwords are hashed, sign-in sessions use short-lived tokens that can be revoked, and repeated attempts are rate-limited. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will notify affected users as the law requires.
